Kilka dni temu fiński zespół Battle Beast wydał swój szósty album, zatytułowany „Circus Of Doom”. Korzystając z tej okazji zdzwoniliśmy się z wokalistką tej formacji, Noorą Louhimo. Zapraszamy do lektury zapisu tej rozmowy!

MATEUSZ: Cześć Noora! Spotykamy się na krótko przed premierą waszego nowego albumu, „Circus Of Doom”. Mogłabyś nam opowiedzieć nieco o historii powstania tego krążka? Czy pandemia utrudniła nagrywanie nowego materiału?

NOORA: Oczywiście, musieliśmy być wyjątkowo ostrożni, by wszyscy byli zdrowi i bezpieczni. No i obawialiśmy się, że jak ktoś się rozchoruje, to będziemy mieli opóźnienia. Ale na szczęście wszystko odbyło się w terminie, nikt się poważnie nie rozchorował. Poza tym nagrywanie nowego albumu zawsze jest wyzwaniem, bo staramy się, by nowy krążek był jeszcze lepszy od poprzedniego. To duże wyzwanie, ale też ogromna satysfakcja, gdy się udaje. Teraz oczywiście warunki nagrywania były inne niż poprzednio przez pandemię, ale przez lockdown mieliśmy więcej czasu na skupienie się na pisaniu i tworzeniu kompozycji. W tym sensie miło było mieć więcej czasu na skoncentrowanie się nad albumem, bo normalnie tworzyliśmy nowy materiał będąc w trasie, tak było przez ostatnie osiem lat przed pandemią. Jednocześnie graliśmy koncerty i nagrywaliśmy nowe płyty. Fajnie było dla odmiany posiedzieć trochę w domu z rodziną i przyjaciółmi i mieć czas na kreatywną pracę.

MATEUSZ: Jasne! Album jest świetny, bardzo lubię go słuchać. Dlaczego nazwaliście go akurat „Circus Of Doom”?

NOORA: Nie tyle dlaczego, ale jak ten tytuł wybraliśmy. To zabawna historia, byliśmy akurat w studiu i Janne rzucał pomysły na tytuły robocze jednej z piosenek, która ostatecznie otwiera cały album. Jedną z opcji było właśnie „Circus Of Doom” i naszemu basiście, Eero, tak się to spodobało, że rzucił „Musimy tak nazwać album!” [śmiech]. Oczywiście, zaczęliśmy o tym rozmawiać w zespole i zgodziliśmy się, że właśnie ten tytuł wybierzemy, jest chwytliwy i ma odpowiedniego kopa. Do tego wywołuje dyskusję – „Czym jest ten Circus Of Doom? Czy cały album jest jak wizyta w cyrku zagłady...?”. To interesujący tytuł dla albumu i dlatego go wybraliśmy. Nie nagrywamy albumów koncepcyjnych, ale na tym jest mnóstwo emocji i pewnego rodzaju scen. Ale dlaczego to „Circus Of Doom”? Pomyśleliśmy, że ta nazwa może symbolizować różne rzeczy, na przykład jak puszczasz album, to jakbyś wchodził do cyrku, który oferuje różne rodzaje rozrywki, jakby wszystkie piosenki całkiem się od siebie różniły. Z drugiej strony są też piosenki, które wywodzą się jakby ze wspólnego świata. Słuchanie tego albumu to ogromna przygoda, więc gorąco polecam słuchanie go od początku do końca, to jak wskoczenie na rollercoastera! Ale „Circus Of Doom” może też symbolizować nas jako zespół – gdy idziesz na nasz koncert, to widzisz, że jesteśmy zupełnie nieobliczalni, mamy zawsze mnóstwo niespodzianek dla fanów i uwielbiamy zapewniać im rozrywkę. U nas żaden koncert nie wygląda tak samo, tylko czysty rock’n’roll! [śmiech]

MATEUSZ: Jasne! Widziałem was na żywo już trzy lub cztery razy i to było naprawdę niesamowite przeżycie!

NOORA: Miło mi to słyszeć!

MATEUSZ: Album przed premierą promowały aż trzy single. Który z nich jest twoim ulubionym i dlaczego?

NOORA: To bardzo trudne pytanie, bo tym razem wszystkie trzy single to moje ulubione piosenki z albumu. Trudno mi wybrać, ale jakbym musiała, byłby to „Master Of Illusion”, ten kawałek jest mistyczny i ekscytujący! Uwielbiam cały początek piosenki i to, jak odnalazłam się w nim na nowo jako wokalistka. Chciałabym wspomnieć, że inspiracją dla tej piosenki od strony wokalnej był Rob Halford. Czekałam długo, aż będę mogła nagrać kawałek, który będzie ukłonem w jego stronę i ta piosenka była do tego idealna, szczególnie w zwrotkach. To bardzo ekscytujące, dynamika tego kawałka też jest świetna, jest też w nim dramaturgia, no i kocham historię, którą opowiada.

MATEUSZ: Moją ulubioną piosenką z płyty jest drugi utwór w trackliście, „Wings Of Light” [w dniu premiery albumu wydany także jako czwarty singiel – przyp. red.]. Mogłabyś podzielić się ze mną i czytelnikami historią tej piosenki? O czym jest, jak powstawała?

NOORA: Miło mi to słyszeć, bo ja też lubię tę piosenkę! Napisał ją nasz basista, Eero, w 2020, tuż na początku lockdownu – niestety, w tamtym czasie Eero przebywał w szpitalu. Gdy podawano mu leki przeciwbólowe, przyszedł mu do głowy pomysł na ten kawałek. Pytałam się go, o czym on jest, chciałam, żeby opowiedział mi jego historię. I nie umiał mi powiedzieć. Kontynuowaliśmy naszą rozmowę i stało się jasne, że piosenka jest oparta na poczuciu zwycięstwa w walce z chorobą. Eero nie ma nic przeciwko i sam o tym mówi, więc i ja mogę to powiedzieć – miał guza mózgu, którego na szczęście udało się usunąć. Po operacji musiał zostać w szpitalu i w rezultacie tych przeżyć, zaczął na nowo cieszyćsię życiem, poczuł nową energię. „Wings Of Light” powstało właśnie z tych uczuć, gdy mógł na nowo poczuć, że żyje.

MATEUSZ: To wspaniała, wzruszająca historia. Dobrze słyszeć, że wszystko już z nim w porządku. Pozdrów go ode mnie!

NOORA: Oczywiście! Wszystko wróciło już do normy. A nawet zmieniło się na lepsze, bo zaraz po tych wydarzeniach jego dziewczyna urodziła bliźnięta, więc mają teraz rodzinę! Czują się świetnie.

MATEUSZ: To fantastycznie! A zatem, poza utworami, które już omówiliśmy, z którego jesteś szczególnie dumna i dlaczego?

NOORA: Stanowczo „Circus Of Doom”, uwielbiam ten kawałek! To mój ulubiony na całym albumie – kocham jego teatralność, doskonale wprowadza w klimat płyty, jest pełen odwagi i daje siłę. To długa piosenka złożona z różnych fragmentów, które układają się w scenę, brzmi trochę jak ścieżka dźwiękowa do filmu lub musicalu. Uwielbiam budowanie napięcia w tym utworze, jego zmienną dynamikę. I kocham intro, na samym początku wprowadza atmosferę grozy i ciemności. I nagle wchodzą fanfary, ta szokująca zmiana jest super. Wiem, że wielu osobom nie spodoba się ten numer i zajmie im wiele czasu, by złapać klimat tej piosenki, będą musieli ją przesłuchać wiele razy, ale wierzę w was! [śmiech]

MATEUSZ: Okres pandemii był dla ciebie bardzo pracowity, bo na początku zeszłego roku wydałaś swój pierwszy solowy album jako Noora Louhimo Experience. Mogłabyś nam nieco przybliżyć ten projekt, szczególnie osobom, które nie miały z nim jeszcze styczności? To coś zupełnie innego, niż twoja twórczość z Battle Beast.

NOORA: To fakt, zbierałam się przez ostatnią dekadę, by w końcu nagrać swój własny, solowy album. To dla mnie bardzo ważne, bo nie jestem tylko wokalistką Battle Beast, ale jestem też artystką, od dziecka piszę piosenki. Czułam, że mam do opowiedzenia wiele historii. Chciałam też wrócić do moich muzycznych korzeni – bluesa, rocka, country, soulu. Bardzo chciałam pokazać wszystkim, kim jestem jako artystka i jako osoba. Wszystkie piosenki są bardzo osobiste, opowiadają o moich uczuciach i przeżyciach. To album dla wszystkich, którzy chcą mnie lepiej poznać. Do tego zauważyłam, że jak wróciłam do studia z Battle Beast po wydaniu tego krążka, rozwinęłam się wokalnie – na solowym albumie robiłam wszystko jak chciałam, próbowałam nowych technik, eksperymentowałam. Dzięki temu, wracając do pracy z Battle Beast czułam, że mam dużo więcej do zaoferowania i moim zdaniem mój wokal też stał się lepszy. Przez sprawdzanie się w różnych stylach i odkrywanie nowych perspektyw, rozwijasz się jako wokalista.

MATEUSZ: To fakt, gdy wychodzisz poza swoją strefę komfortu, możesz przeżyć coś nowego i zdobyć nowe doświadczenie.

NOORA: Dokładnie tak! Do tego robienie czegoś zupełnie nowego daje ci energetycznego kopa – i wtedy wracasz do heavy metalu i nawet w nim odnajdujesz nowe strony po tym, jak grałeś coś innego przez jakiś czas.

MATEUSZ: No pewnie! Czy w takim razie czeka nas kontynuacja twojego solowego projektu?

NOORA: Stanowczo. Planuję pisać piosenki w tym roku, nie wiem jeszcze, ile mi to zajmie, ale zostawiłam sobie otwartą furtkę! Nie mogę się doczekać tworzenia nowych piosenek i teraz wiem, w którą stronę chcę iść jako artystka solowa. Chcę grać jeszcze więcej bluesa i rocka, chcę trzymać się mocno moich muzycznych korzeni, a jednocześnie przygotowywać do tras koncertowych Battle Beast, kiedykolwiek by one nie były.

MATEUSZ: Można powiedzieć, że spełniałaś się artystycznie w zeszłym roku – poza albumem Noora Louhimo Experience, który został wydany w marcu, w czerwcu wyszedł wasz wspólny album z Nettą Laurenne z zespołu Smackbound. Jak doszło do tej współpracy?

NOORA: W sumie to obie po cichu podziwiałyśmy się nawzajem przez lata, aż w końcu, latem 2020, Netta zadzwoniła do mnie i zapytała, czy chciałabym nagrać z nią album – od razu powiedziałam „tak”! Marzyłam o współpracy z nią, podziwiam jej styl śpiewania i charyzmę. Zaczęłyśmy rozmawiać o tym projekcie i jak się za niego zabrać, a że byłam wtedy zajęta pracą zarówno nad swoim solowym albumem, jak i nowym materiałem Battle Beast, zdecydowałyśmy, że Netta napisze piosenki ze swoim mężem Nino Laurennem, a ja zaśpiewam je wszystkie razem z nią. I tak właśnie powstał ten krążek, a my w międzyczasie bardzo się ze sobą zaprzyjaźniłyśmy. To moja bratnia dusza!

MATEUSZ: I mieszkacie w jednym mieście, prawda?

NOORA: Nie do końca – Netta mieszkała kiedyś tu, w Tampere, ale od 10 lat mieszka już w Helsinkach. A ja pozostałam w Tampere i nigdzie się stąd nie wybieram.

MATEUSZ: Wygląda na to, że znalazłaś swoje miejsce na Ziemi! Chyba lubisz współpracować z innymi artystami, bo ostatnio byłaś gościem w wielu projektach – nagrywałaś piosenki z Amaranthe, HammerFallem czy Grave Diggerem. Który z tych projektów wspominasz najlepiej?

NOORA: Naprawdę trudno powiedzieć, bo to wszystko wspaniali ludzie i świetnie mi się pracowało z każdym z osobna! I wiesz, uwielbiam współpracować z innymi muzykami, rozmawiać z nimi o naszej pasji do muzyki. I złapałam bardzo dobry kontakt z wszystkimi, których wymieniłeś. Ale mogę powiedzieć, że przy nagraniach z Amaranthe poznałam lepiej Elize i wciąż utrzymujemy ze sobą kontakt i bardzo mnie to cieszy!

MATEUSZ: Fajnie! A tak przy okazji, wczoraj rozmawiałem z Joacimem z HammerFalla, bardzo ciepło się o tobie wypowiadał i miło wspomina waszą współpracę.

NOORA: O, jak miło! Tęsknię za nim, to taki sympatyczny człowiek.

MATEUSZ: Trzymam kciuki, że już niedługo będziecie mogli znów wyruszyć razem w trasę. Jest jeszcze ktoś, z kim chciałabyś nagrywać, ale nie miałaś jeszcze okazji?

NOORA: Oczywiście! Chciałabym zaśpiewać z Robem Halfordem i Brucem Dickinsonem.

MATEUSZ: No raczej!

NOORA: Tak! [śmiech] A z tych, których nie ma wśród nas, na pewno chciałabym zaśpiewać z Ronniem Jamesem Dio.

MATEUSZ: To niestety niemożliwe, ale trzymam kciuki za współpracę z pozostałymi legendami, o których wspominałaś. W każdym razie, wróciliście już do koncertowania w czasie pandemii, ale na razie skupiacie się na Skandynawii. Przy okazji premiery „Circus Of Doom” jest szansa na międzynarodową trasę. Jak się z tym czujesz?

NOORA: No cóż, niestety musieliśmy odwołać naszą trasę po Europie przez wzrost zakażeń. Dlatego teraz trochę mi smutno, bo na koncerty w Europie musimy jeszcze trochę poczekać. Jest jak jest i musimy poczekać na rozwój wydarzeń. Nie mogę się doczekać, aż ta pandemia wygaśnie i będziemy mogli wrócić do normalnego koncertowania, jak w czasach przed koronawirusem. Ale trudno powiedzieć, kiedy to będzie. Póki co, w planach wciąż jest trasa po Stanach, więc będę się bardzo cieszyła, jeśli uda się tam polecieć.

MATEUSZ: Oby się udało! Z nieznanych przyczyn, w przełożonej trasie po Europie nie było nawet jednego koncertu w Polsce. Czy jest szansa, że dołożycie koncert w naszym kraju, gdy wznowicie trasę po Europie?

NOORA: Mam taką nadzieję! To nie jest tak, że my sobie decydujemy „OK, jedziemy tu, tu i tu”, to nasza agencja rozpisuje trasę i oni myślą raczej „OK, gdzie dostaną najlepsze warunki, byle by nie jechać nigdzie, gdzie możemy stracić pieniądze”. Obecnie grafiki we wszystkich miejscach są zapełnione w związku z pandemią, więc być może nie było dobrego terminu. I to jedyny powód, dla którego nie zaplanowaliśmy występu w Polsce! Ale nie martwcie się, przyjedziemy do was jak tylko to będzie możliwe!

MATEUSZ: Dobrze to słyszeć! Graliście już w Polsce wielokrotnie – ostatni raz tuż przed pandemią, w lutym 2020 z HammerFallem. Byłem na waszym koncercie w Warszawie jako fotograf – i to był naprawdę niesamowity wieczór! Jakie są twoje ulubione wspomnienia z pobytów w Polsce?

NOORA: Po pierwsze, kocham polską publiczność. Rozpiera was energia, zupełnie tak jak mnie, i umiecie się bawić! [śmiech] To dla mnie bardzo, bardzo ważne, bo nasza twórczość jest dla ludzi, którzy kochają się bawić i uwielbiają muzykę. Dlatego zawsze się cieszę na koncerty w Polsce! I tak jest za każdym razem – chcę do was po prostu wrócić i świetnie się z wami bawić.

MATEUSZ: Pewnie! Mam nadzieję, że ten moment nadejdzie już niedługo. To było już ostatnie pytanie, ale jeśli chciałabyś się czymś podzielić z polskimi fanami – to jest twój moment!

NOORA: Oczywiście, chciałabym podziękować wam wszystkim za wsparcie, które okazaliście nam do tej pory i które będziecie okazywać w przyszłości. Teraz, gdy przez pandemię nasze koncerty są odwoływane, chciałabym, żebyście wiedzieli, że bardzo za wami tęsknimy i już nie możemy się doczekać koncertu w Polsce i wielkiej, cyrkowej imprezy z wami! A few days ago, the Finnish band Battle Beast released their sixth studio album entitled “Circus Of Doom”. Taking this opportunity, we interviewed the frontwoman of this group, Noora Louhimo. Enjoy your reading!

The interview was conducted by Mateusz M. Godoń on behalf of our website.

MATEUSZ: Hi Noora! We are talking just shortly before the release of your new album called “Circus Of Doom”. Can you tell us the story behind this album? Did you have any difficulties recording it due to the pandemic?

NOORA: Well, of course, we needed to be extra careful. You know, just to make sure that everyone stays safe and healthy. And also, of course, we were kind of scared that someone will be getting sick and because of that our schedule would be delayed or something like that. But actually, we were fortunate that our schedules were not disturbed. No one got seriously sick or anything like that. But other than that, yeah, every album is a challenge, and we always try to make even better album after the last one. So it's always a huge challenge, but also it's very rewarding when you get that done. And this time, of course, what was different comparing to the making of the other albums was that now, when the pandemic lockdown was on, we had actually time to focus totally on the making of the album and songwriting. So it was also very nice to have time just to concentrate on the album and not at the same time be touring because that's what the case has been the last eight years before the lockdown. We just, you know, were touring and making the albums at the same time. So now it was actually pretty nice just to stay home and enjoy family and friends and be creative.

MATEUSZ: Sure! The record is really, really great – I absolutely enjoy listening to it! Why did you chose this very title, “Circus Of Doom”, for this album?

NOORA: Well, first of all, it was how we did choose it. It was actually funny because we were at the studio and Janne was throwing in the air these different work names for one of the songs which ended up being the opening track on the album. One of the options was “Circus Of Doom” and then our bass player Eero was like super excited about the name and it was like, “This must be the album name!” [laughter]. And then, of course, we started to discuss it in the band and we all agreed that it's going to be the name and it's got the right kind of punch and you know, it sticks in your head right away. And it also brings up questions like, “What is this Circus Of Doom? And is the whole album, you know, about some kind of circus…?”. So it's an interesting album name, and that's why we picked it. It's not actually a concept album – we have never made anything like that - but this album includes a lot of different emotions and kind of scenes. But why is it “Circus Of Doom”? We thought it can be symbolizing different things, like when you enter the album, for example, it's like going to this circus that has different kind of entertaining, like all the songs are totally different from each other. But also there are some songs that are, kind of, from the same world. So it's a totally huge adventure when you start to listen to the album, and I definitely recommend to listen to the album from the beginning to the end and kind of jump on the rollercoaster! And also, “Circus Of Doom” can be symbolizing us as a band – when you go to our live shows you can see that we are totally crazy in there at our live shows, we always have different kind of surprises for our fans and also we love to entertain in different ways. So it's not just, you know, always the same show we always want to keep. It's rock and roll! [laughter]

MATEUSZ: Yeah, sure! I saw you live three or four times already and it was always an awesome experience!

NOORA: That's great to hear!

MATEUSZ: Before the album premiere, you guys released three singles promoting the material. Which one of those singles is your favorite and why?

NOORA: That's a very hard question, because actually this time all these singles are like one of my favorites on the album. So it's really hard to choose, but if I have to, it's got to be “Master Of Illusion”, because I love how mystical and exciting song it is! I love the way that, you know, the whole song starts and also the way that I could show a new side of myself as a vocalist again in it. And I want to mention that for this song my inspiration, soundwise, as a vocalist, was Rob Halford. And finally, I kind of waited when I get to do this kind of tribute to Rob Halford, and this was the perfect song to have that similar vocal sound, especially in the verses. But yeah, I think it's very exciting and the dynamics are great and it's a very dramatic song as well, and I love the story about the song.

MATEUSZ: My favorite song from this album is the second track, which is called “Wings Of Light” [on the day of the album's premiere, also released as the fourth single – editor's note]. Can you share with me and our readers any trivia about this song – for example, what is it about and how it was created?

NOORA: Well, actually, that's really nice to hear, because I like this song, too! The songwriter of the song was our bass player Eero and the song was actually born in, I think, 2020, when the lockdown had just started and unfortunately, Eero was in hospital back then. And when he was receiving these medications for pain there, he actually got the idea for the song. And I've been asking like, “What is it about? Tell me the story!”. And he actually didn't know himself, even the actual part. But when we continued our discussion, it kind of appeared that what's behind this song is the feeling of surviving the sickness – because, you know, he's OK to talk about it so I may tell you that he actually had a brain tumour, but it was removed. But he was recovering in the hospital after that, and that was the result when he was like, you know, excited about life and filled with hope, and “Wings Of Light” was born from that feeling that he could actually embrace life again on a whole new level.

MATEUSZ: That's a pretty great, emotional story to hear! And I'm glad to learn that he's recovered. Give him my best wishes for the future, please!

NOORA: Yeah, of course! He's doing great. And actually, after that, his girlfriend got twins, so they have a family now! So everything is great with them!

MATEUSZ: That's just fantastic! Well then, which track, apart from the ones we've already covered, are you especially proud of and why?

NOORA: Well, I definitely have to say the opening track “Circus Of Doom” is something that I really love! It's my favorite on the album – I love how theatrical it is, and I think it introduces the whole kind of what the album is about, and it's very brave and encouraging. It's a long song with different parts, and it's more of, you know, like a scene, and it reminds me of some kind of a movie soundtrack or a musical. And I really love that how dramatic and how different dynamics the song includes. And I love the intro, how it starts with this exciting kind of loomy and dark feeling. And then it's, you know, like, super shocking when the horns come in. I just love that shock aspect about it! I know that some people are going to hate it and that others are going to love it, because it's such an artistic song, and it's going to take time for some people, they will have to listen to it many times to kind of get the song, but I believe in you! [laughter]

MATEUSZ: The time of pandemic was pretty busy for you because at the beginning of last year, you released your first solo album under the name Noora Louhimo Experience. Could you please tell us – especially those readers who didn't get to listen to this material yet – more about this project, which is totally different from what you do on a daily basis with Battle Beast?

NOORA: Yeah, well, actually, it had been kind of boiling underneath for the last decade that I really wanted to make my own solo album, because it's very important for me as I'm not just a singer for Battle Beast, but I'm actually an artist and I've been writing songs since I was little kid. So I felt like I had so many stories to tell from my perspective. And also, I wanted to go back to my musical roots, which is, like, blues and rock and country and soul music. And I really wanted to show people what I'm made of as an artist and musician and as a person. All the songs are very personal, and from my own life and my own feelings and emotions. So if you want to get to know me better, you should definitely listen to the album. And also, I kind of realized after releasing the album and when I went to the recording booth with Battle Beast, that it had actually made me a better singer when I did, like, everything the way that I want it, and I developed myself and I tried out different things on the solo album. And thus, when I went to the recording booth with Battle Beast, I felt that I had so much more to give to the band than before. And I think I could do better vocals because of that. So it's very useful to, you know, try different perspectives and different styles, and that's how you can develop yourself.

MATEUSZ: Yeah, when you kind of get out of your comfort area, you can experience something new and learn from it.

NOORA: Yeah, definitely! And also, you get extra energy from doing something totally different and then go back to the heavy metal stuff and you can find some new aspects even there when you have tried something else for a while.

MATEUSZ: Sure! Are you planning to record a sequel to this album in the foreseeable future, then?

NOORA: Definitely. I'm already planning on the songwriting this year and well, I don't know how long it's going to take, but I'm kind of having this channel open now! And I'm excited to make new songs, and now I know what I want to do with my solo thing. So it's definitely going to be even more blues and rock music and just staying in my musical roots and kind of doing that, as well as we are, you know, preparing ourselves for the Battle Beast upcoming tours, whenever they might happen.

MATEUSZ: I'd say that you were a very creative and prolific artist last year, because apart from the Noora Louhimo Experience album, which came out in March, later in July you released your joint album with Netta Laurenne of Smackbound. Where did the idea for this collaboration come from?

NOORA: Well, actually we both had been kind of admiring each other secretly for years and finally, in Summer 2020, Netta called me and asked if I wanted to make an album with her, and I was immediately into it, so I told her “yes”. She was one of those vocalists that I had dreamed about, you know, working with and I really admire her singing style and her charisma. So, then we started, you know, talking about how we should do it, and because I was so busy with other stuff like my own solo album and also preparing for a Battle Beast album, we agreed that Netta will do the songs with her husband Nino Laurenne together, and I will be singing with her the whole album through. And that's how we ended up doing this album and we became like one of the best friends to each other. And yeah, I definitely found a soul sister in her!

MATEUSZ: And you guys live in the same city, right?

NOORA: No, actually, she had been living here in Tampere in the past, but she's been living in Helsinki for the last 10 years. And I'm still living in Tampere and I think I don't want to go anywhere.

MATEUSZ: That's your place in the world, I guess! I assume that you love to collaborate with other artists, considering how many guest projects you have been on in recent times – let me mention the songs you recorded with Amaranthe, HammerFall or Grave Digger, to name a few. Which of these ventures did you like the most?

NOORA: I couldn't say because they all are great people, and I enormously enjoyed working with all of them! And it's just, you know, I enjoy so much to connect with my colleagues and talk about music and the love towards it. And I had so great conversations with all of these artists. But definitely, after doing the collaboration with Amaranthe, I got to know Elize better and we have been still in contact after that. So that was really nice!

MATEUSZ: Cool! By the way, just yesterday I spoke with Joacim from HammerFall, and he just praised your cooperation and said a lot of good things about you, too!

NOORA: Oh, that's so nice! I miss him. He's a nice guy!

MATEUSZ: Let's hope you would have a chance to tour again together soon. So is there any other artist you haven't collaborated with yet that you'd like to sing with?

NOORA: Yes, of course! I would love to sing with Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson.

MATEUSZ: Naturally!

NOORA: Yes! [laughter] And if Ronnie James Dio would be alive, I would love to sing with him also.

MATEUSZ: That's not possible, unfortunately. But fingers crossed that one day you'd have a song with both of the other two legendary singers you mentioned. Anyway, although you have already returned to playing live in the pandemic times, you haven't actually toured outside of Scandinavia so far. Now, with the release of the “Circus Of Doom”, you are finally hoping to travel to other countries. How do you feel about it?

NOORA: Well, like we announced just recently, unfortunately we have to postpone the European tour because of this pandemic spreading. So I'm kind of feeling sad right now because we are not getting to the European tour yet. It is what it is and we have to go by how things develop. And I just wish that this pandemic, you know, fades away and we could start doing our performing work as it was before the coronavirus emerged. But I don't know how long that is going to take. But we are still having the U.S. tour, hopefully coming. So I'm super excited if that happens.

MATEUSZ: Yeah, let's hope for the best! For some reasons, even a single show in Poland wasn't included on the list for this, now postponed, European tour. Any chance that you will add at least one show in this country to the rescheduled tour?

NOORA: I definitely hope so, because the thing is that it's not like, “OK, we decide, OK, we go there and there and there”, but it's our agency that they are like, “OK, where they can get the best offer and we shouldn't go anywhere that we will lose money”. Now all the places are overbooked because of this pandemic. So it might be that there hasn't been a good slot. And that's the only reason why we haven't been coming to Poland again. But don't worry, you are in our minds and we will come to you as soon as possible!

MATEUSZ: Great to hear! So you have already played in Poland for so many times – the last time just before the pandemic, with HammerFall in February 2020. By the way, I attended your performance in Warsaw as a photographer, which was absolutely stunning! What are your best memories from all those visits to Poland?

NOORA: Well, first of all, I love the audience there. You are very passionate people, and I love that, because I'm very passionate, and you know how to party [laughter]. And that's something that is very, very important, because our songs are for people who love to party and enjoy music. So I'm super happy to go there, always! Every time we have been in Poland, it's the same – I just want to come back there and have fun with you.

MATEUSZ: Sure! Fingers crossed that it would happen very, very soon. And that was, to be honest, the last question from me. But if you would like to say something straight from your heart to your Polish fans – this is your chance!

NOORA: Well, of course, I want to thank all of you for supporting us. Until now and in the future.
